Craftsmanship
If it doesn't last,
we won't make it.
Every garment is built with techniques that have defined quality for generations — from varsity chenille appliqué to garment dyeing, heavyweight fabrics to hidden heritage details.
Heavyweight Fabrics
We source premium heavyweight French terry, ringspun cotton, and brushed fleece — selected for exceptional hand feel, drape, and longevity. Our fabrics typically weigh 450–500 GSM, substantially heavier than standard collegiate merchandise.
Varsity Chenille Appliqué
Each chenille patch is individually cut, positioned, and chain-stitched by skilled artisans. This is the same technique used for varsity letterman jackets since the early 1900s — thick, textured, and built to last.
Authentic Embroidery
Our embroidery uses heavyweight thread with a raised, textured finish — not the flat, lightweight digitizing found on mass-market merchandise. Every UMBC shield and state map is stitched with precision and depth.
Garment Dyeing
Selected pieces undergo garment dyeing, where the fully assembled garment is dyed rather than using pre-dyed fabric. This creates a lived-in depth of color, a softer hand feel, and subtle variations that make each piece unique.
Hidden Details
Every garment carries a hidden 'Once a Retriever, Always a Retriever' message inside. Woven neck labels, antique brass hardware on quarter-zips, and tonal embroidery that reveals itself on closer inspection.
Officially Licensed
Every piece is fully licensed by the university. We work directly with licensing departments to ensure our designs honor each institution's identity, colors, and traditions with authenticity and respect.
